June Begins

Dinosaur park on a hill in town.
Athena begs to go all year long but it's so high elevation and the wind hits it hard. So we only go when it's hot outside and the wind isn't crazy.

 Gymnastics class today
After gymnastics we all went to Storybook Island park

It's Summer, Baby!

As Summer break began our family started our typical Summer Learning is Fun custom. We tried a science experiment when a friend gave me white roses for my birthday.
Place red food coloring in a cup of water. Place blue food coloring in another. Slice the end of the rose stem into two parts. Set rose up so the split ends are soaking up the colored water for atleast 24 hours. The results are so fun and beautiful!

Storybook Island park opened up for the season!!

May ended and June began...

The boys had school friends they wanted to have at their birthday party this year. So we threw a combined party at the swimming pool early this year. Hoping friends would be more likely to come if the party wasn't too far into the summer break.

Lachoneus turning 9 in July and Tiberias turning 7 in August had a huge birthday bash to celebrate extremely early this year.

For gifts the boys received bey blades and arena, Tails toy (from Sonic the Hedgehog), Star Wars legos, a gift card, robot toys from Sonic that Ty isn't familiar with so he later exchanged them at the store for a different gift.
Ty's school friends did not come. But Luke's best friend in the whole school (for two years now), Lillian, came! Luke and Lillian had a blast at the pool together! They even went down the water slide holding on to each other (they were told not to do that again).

Kids in the photo: Tiberias, Lillian (from church), Julia, Lillian (from school. Sadly you can't see her face in the photo), Luke, Gunnar, Bruce, Athena, Logan, David and Alexis.
The party consisted of a pizza dinner, ice cream, cake made by the mom, swimming and party bags. The pool supplied a great party bag yet we added our own touch to it. The boys had picked out prizes from an Oriental Trading Company magazine months earlier. Stick on mustaches, finger lights and blow up video game swords.

Ster stayed in the pool with the kids and I manned the party above water.

 The cake...
A video game mashup theme. Sonic, Angry Birds, Kirby and Mario.
There were plenty of candles on this cake! And the dynamite candles were amazing! They sparked light fireworks and were pretty tricky to blow out...they would come back on again.

This is metal Sonic. Apparently it is a robot like Sonic but actually his nemesis. Ty loves it right now!!
I had leftover fondant pieces for I stuck them on cupcakes...

The party was a huge success. And the next day I took the kids for some more celebration fun. Luke had a gift card from his best friend. And Tiberias had a toy to exchange at Toys R Us.
So we went to Toys R Us where Ty got twisting crayons and glittering crayons. It is funny how much children can change what they love in a single year. We went through Toys R Us and nothing grabbed Ty's interest until we got to the art section. He was in awe at the options.
Ty also looked at getting a lollipop at Toys R Us. However, they were almost $7 for one! So I decided we would also stop at the dollar store and everyone could pick a treat ...and we'd only be spending $3.

I took photos because my two youngest have wanted a giant lollipop for a year or so. I always say no. This time...dream come true.
We went to Target and Luke spent atleast 45 minutes checking out options for his gift from Lillian. In the end he chose a Pokemon toy set with a belt, two Poke balls and a pikachu to fit inside. He loves this new toy! And because I was spoiling them already...I bought each boy a fidget spinner (the cheap ones).

Compared to this...the boys' birthdays, when they actually come, will pretty much suck. lol
But they have amazing memories, pictures, and awesome new toys they love, love, love.
