Showa Park

We have hoped for many weekends to be able to visit Showa Park. Every Saturday it rains!
Finally on July 13th we went!

It was only 15 minutes or less from the base. We paid to park the car and paid to get into the park. We hiked past flower gardens, a Japanese village, a pond full of lily pads and a dragonfly marsh to get to the Children's Forest. We walked on a windmill bridge to get to the playgrounds.

It is a beautiful hike!
Sterling is our photographer these days...

The first activity the kids hopped to was the trampoline hammocks!

We found a water mist play land!
When you walk into it your vision becomes less and less. In the center all you see is white mist. It is fun even more because many children go inside and have to walk slowly not to run into anyone. The mist was nice because the day was hot and a little humid. The mist was nice and refreshing.

We loved the bubbles that come out of the ground.
The dragon playground was amazing! Once we even saw mist or smoke coming out of a dragon!

From the dragon playground there is a cave. You go through the cave and come out in a giant rock garden! We don't have any photos of that. But, so fun!

Some Japanese children were playing with bubbles.

At the top of the "ancient temple" is a sun.

Crows...here in this part of Japan there are always crows! Everywhere.

On the walk back to the car we went through the Dragonfly Marsh which did have a lot of dragonflies...

We also stopped to see the Japanese village.

There is so much of the park that we did not experience! And we want to go back to play again at the Children's Forest. It was an amazing day!

Independence Days

I asked the kids to give me smiles and Athena did this hilarious face...
 This is better...
There we go! Wait...Ty, look at the camera! :)
 Good enough! I am happy...
Athena discovered the dryer and created a reading nook. Then Ster came home, freaked out and told Athena she could die! lol. He told her never to go in there again. I wasn't worried though...I had talked to her about never closing the door and I spend SO much time in the kitchen every day!
