Thanksgiving

The night before Thanksgiving our cat Binx was adopted into a new family. We had prepared our children for losing Binx. So they didn't cry when we said goodbye and he left us.
Our children are strong and amazing.

Luke is allergic and that is why we had to find Binx a new home. Luke was the most sad to lose Binx.
Athena said she was fine but the next morning she said "Mom, can we let Binx out of the bathroom?" She had forgotten he is no longer here.

Ty was fine getting rid of Binx. He didn't bond with the cat as much as everyone else.

Ster had hated having a cat until we covered the leather couches to protect them from cat claws.

Binx had loved living with us! He loved us so much! We only had him with us for a month and a half. But he was getting tired of being treated like a toy by Athena. And he is getting older so he is a little less playful. He sleeps a lot more now.
We found him a young military couple. They have two ferrets and no children. They were excited to take Binx home after meeting him last night.

We all got use to hearing Binx's collar bell and knowing where he is. It will be weird never hearing that bell again. Never having that soft furry creature around.

This morning while Luke was playing he said "Now we have the problem of having no pets at all." Poor kid.

But like I said, they are strong.

Thanksgiving this year is just us. No guests.

Sterling made this amazing delicious turkey and meal. Potatoes, stuffing, sweet potatoes, Rhodes rolls. We had egg nog and lactose free egg nog.

Sterling is an amazing father and husband! He served up all the kids' food without saying a word to me...as I took photos instead of helping. ;)
We are so thankful! God blesses our lives more than we ever imagined He would.
We made marco polo videos to our families (Borens and Roundys) as we were eating our meal. Videos of each of us saying what we are thankful for.

It was a warm and beautiful day! 75 degrees outside! And life couldn't be sweeter.

Hair COLORS!

My friends Laura Elliott and Jen Christensen came over to my house for a hair dying party. My hair went dark, almost black, with teal streaks. Athena was upset that I wouldn't dye her hair for her. She wanted black hair. LOL...NO!
But I had spray on and wash out hair colors from Halloween clearance sales. So each of my kids picked a color and I sprayed their hair. Two days of having color in their hair then I will wash it out.

Ty is golden
 Luke has maroon
 Athena has orange!

Baptisms

Being Primary president I get to attend the baptisms of most the kids who turn 8. And I love these girls! Yes, it has been all girls. And next year it will be all boys but one. Only one girl will turn eight. lol.
Love this family! The Elliotts.
Julia's baptism! Onita Christensen (on the left) is the one girl who will turn eight in our primary in 2018. Tiberias is one of the boys turning 8 next year! :)

Borens Come to Rapid City!

Dad and mom took Moroni and Nephi on a long road trip. They went to TX to visit David and his family...and Isaiah too. Isaiah lives in TX now.
Then they visited church sites on their way to us.

Thursday afternoon they arrived in Rapid City! Dad and Mom have the guest room/workout room. Moroni and Nephi have the boys' room. And my boys are staying in Athena's room with her.

Thursday we shared pretzel pigs in a blanket for dinner. Then we played retro video games and hung out.
Friday Mom and I went shopping for Halloween clearance. We ate healthy chocolate lava cake for breakfast. We ate sandwiches  before driving up to Keystone.

Then Mt Rushmore! Luckily it was a warm and sunny day. About 50degrees with almost no wind.

Grandpa carried Athena when we started the hike because she said she was tired. Grandpa didn't know that Athena likes to steer when up on someone's shoulders. Left, right, left again. Go crazy and dance!

So happy my brothers were able to come!

A mountain goat near the parking garage! We also saw two young deer as we exited the monument.

For dinner we went to Sickie's Garage for burgers! Crazy burgers. Yum!

Video game night! New Super Mario Brothers Wii!
It was so fun to see Dad and Mom play too!

And over here we have retro games happening! Mostly Mario games.

Movie night! Ant Man in 3D with Pizza Ranch piz

We went rock wall climbing!

Then we went to the tower where Sterling works.

 Air and Space Museum

Sunday we went to our 11am church services. Then home for a relaxing rest of the day.
Monday morning the Boren hit the road early. And drove all the way home!!! About 14 hours driving. For us it would be 16 hours.

It was such a great time having them here! We love my family. And the weather was not too bad while they were here.
