Festive Fun

A cake order.Minecraft.

A few weeks ago we had a bake sale fundraiser to support our neighborhood playroom (where Athena had her bday party for free last year).

I made a grinch for Pin the Heart on the Grinch game. For the squadron kids Christmas party.

Saturday evening we drove to the West side of the base for some free fun. A lit and decorated path and Pretend ice skating. The base advertising said "Ice Skating" but we were very skeptical. It is warm for December right now. And we live in a warm climate to begin with. We don't have any ice skating rinks around. How would the base bring us ice skating?

We were lucky. Being there right as the event started we were able to avoid some long lines. We saw that most people were walking to the light path first so we went to ice skate first. We were in the first group of ice skaters. My children have ice skated before...on real ice...outdoors in the cold...in South Dakota. This was nothing like that.
The ice was actually sheets of plastic and was not even cold. But it looked like ice.
We brought gloves in case we were going to be cold. It was warm in the building where we ice skated. We were required to wear gloves to keep from spreading germs.

The kids had a blast! It wasn't as slippery as real ice but that made it a little easier for Athena and Luke. Ty is good at ice skating so he wouldn't have minded real ice.

The kids loved it so much they would have gone a second time...if it weren't for the long wait in a line. Yep, the line had formed out the doors and out the building.

So we went and bought some hots dogs and food from a food cart and ate dinner. Then we walked around the lights and enjoyed that scene. We even received bags of free candy and toys and shaped balloons as we exited the field. We drove home super happy and in the holiday spirit.
