Enjoy My Kids NOW

Athena is now 8 months old!
She has learned to do three new things in the last week!

On Monday she learned to say "mama" and I love it! Now when she wants me she crawls towards me chanting "mama...mama...mama" as she goes.

In the middle of the week she started putting her hands together in a clapping motion....which is way cute! Now when a song ends or her family dances she claps.

And finally , extremely important, we taught her to say "dada." The night before last as I was about to take her up to bed for the night I thought I would give it a try. I said "say 'dada!'" She was facing her dad ready... we were doing our usual goodnight baby girl routine. Her first attempt came out "bah bah." But I was excited at her effort. Dad got in on the lesson and she tried once more. She can now say "dada!"

She also loves standing, letting go and falling on her bottom. At first, over a week ago, she was trying to see how long she could stand before falling. But now she seems to enjoy falling. So she stands, lets go and after one second she will plop down. If she is on the couch or bed she will do this faster and sometimes even fall backwards. Funny girl.

Athena always hated baths until she was old enough to move out of her baby bath. If she can play in the water and it's warm and she is sitting up then she loves it. It seems she hated laying back most of all. Now she loves her bath time. If the water starts running in the tub she gets excited. If her brothers are in the bath she is right there looking in, trying to reach the water. And the little boys love their sister!

Luke did not have much interest in spending time with Athena until she learned to play and crawl. Now he loves holding her, playing with her and making her smile.

Tiberias finds her to be a cutie and has loved holding her from the start. But she's not quite up to Ty's standards for a play partner yet because she cannot fight and wrestle on her own. It's hard for a 4 year old to be gentle with a baby...especially a fighting Power Ranger 4 year old like mine.
Ty wants me to help Athena fight him every day. She enjoys that too. Although Mommy doesn't want to do it every day.

I love my kids! I am trying to remember that spending time with them now is most important. That the fun projects and things I try to make time for, for myself, I will have years to do after the kids are grown. But NOW...these are the opportunities I have with my kids that will quickly pass and I won't be able to get back.
