Purple Hair

Last week started and I looked like this...
My hair was long and healthy and beautiful but boring. So boring!

Here are pics of WHY I cannot be a blonde....

My complexion does not go well with light light hair colors.
But I was actually this color when Ster met me! I had this bleached color hair for one weekend in my life and that was the weekend I met Sterling at church.  Back then I dyed my hair back to brown that week.

 Anyway, back to the present.

I had not dyed my hair in years so I was nervous about doing something so drastic. But I have always wanted purple hair and Sterling has wanted me to have purple hair for years.

I dyed my hair three different colors of purple at home. I love it.

This trial was with semi permanent colors. Now I know what I do and don't like about purple color in my hair. Next time I am going to use permanent dyes and do two colors of purple streaked throughout front and back...as well as a little bit of blue streaked in. Sterling  and I love it so it's going to be me for a while.

Athena's First Prayer

For lunch today the kids got up to the table for prayer and Athena said "Me! Me!"
Usually she eats and does not even fold her arms for prayer. But since she had her arms folded I made an attempt to get her to say the prayer. To my great surprise she actually repeated after me...
"Dear Heavenly Father, thankful food. Jesus Christ, Amen." Her first uttered prayer. It was adorable!

I had tried to get her to repeat a prayer a few times before but she never did it.
Photos taken today: Athena in her pj's wearing a fancy headband. She likes to be "pretty."

Update On My Kiddos

Update on my kiddos...because they change so fast.

Athena is now talking all the time. She doesn't say sentences usually. However she is great at attempting to repeat single words we say and even remembers things.

She is such a gymnast already. She is amazing at balance and climbing and has a fearlessness that makes her a crazy toddler.

Tiberias is all of a sudden smart...math smart. Since he started going to Kindergarten two weeks ago he is becoming a smart boy. Out of no where he knows that 5 and 5 are ten. He knows a lot of addition that shocks me. He still has trouble with some of his letters like Gg. He can't tell you what letter it is by looking at it even though I've tried to teach it to him for years.

Lachoneus (age 7) has his first crush. A girl in his class named Lily. Today on the way to church he said "Mom, when I grow up I'm going to marry Lily." He then said "I really like Lily!" I asked him what he likes about her. He said "She is really nice! And she helps me." I asked him if he thinks she is pretty. He said "yes" but I don't think he really cares yet.

Building Shelves - TV room

When we moved into our house we made a big list of things we wanted to change when we found money to do so.
Here is a good idea of our list:
Put in a sound system for the tv room and upgrade to a larger tv
Build dvd shelves and book shelves in tv room
Put in a fireplace (luckily the house came with one...just not installed)
Fix and paint the back deck
Redo our bedroom closet to maximize the organization and space

We've been in our house for one year and 9 months. The first thing we did from that list is upgrade our entertainment area (tv and sound). We did not get to any of the others until recently. About a week ago Sterling built the dvd shelves and we painted them. That project surprisingly only took a day and a half.
Here are pictures of the room now...

This is a "before" photo of the half of the room that has a window. Currently Sterling is building the book shelves on this wall as I create this post.

Another view of the dvd shelves. We are very happy with the way the dvd shelves turned out and think it makes the room more fun.

We immediately went from that project to our bedroom closet. It has bugged me a long time that our closet is so small. I had to keep half my dresses in the guest bedroom.
So Sterling moved the one shelf that was in it higher. He moved the hanging bar higher and added a second one so I can fit twice as many clothes in it. We moved our shoe shelves to his side of the closet because he only needs one layer of hanging clothes space. Now all our shoes are together on one side of the closet. I love it!

Last year I really wanted the fireplace in as soon as possible because it's freezing downstairs in the winter...especially in the tv room. But it's looking like that is going to be our last project.
Recently we have been noticing that our back deck is so bad it will probably have to be fixed within the next year. There are boards that are rotten and no longer stable. We will have to replace some board and repaint the entire thing.

We absolutely love our home. We watch Property Brothers and similar shows that show homes and finding the right home or creating the right home. And I absolutely am proud of ours.
