New Version of Tennis

There is a tennis court not far from our house at Yokota Air Base. It is a court that really needs repairs. The ground is broken in so many places.

Sterling and I use that court because the alternative is to drive another ten minutes and cross the flightline. So, we try to ignore the broken-ness of our court.

There are two other court options both of which have wonderful court floors.

When Sterling and I play on our court the tennis balls land on uneven and cracked ground. Those faults make the balls change the angle and sometimes the direction they were previously heading!

This version of Tennis is like a whacked out electronic game where you have to be ready for anything. The ball could be heading straight for you but when it hits the ground once it turns to the left and goes that way. Or it could be speeding your way and then it hits the ground and the speed slows tremendously causing you to guess the wrong place to stand to hit it. lol.

It is also the wrong season for tennis which means we have wind to deal with. The wind can also slow the ball or influence the direction it flies (a little bit).
