Luke's First Dance- Athena's First Dance Too

The elementary school held a dance for 3rd to 5th graders. They needed parent volunteers. So, Athena and I went to decorate the dance Friday after lunch. Near the library is the media center and that's what we decorated. It looked great! Lanterns, stars and clouds hung on the stage curtain. A disco ball and some dance moving lights.

School gets out at 2:10pm. The dance started at 2:45pm. Luke changed into church pants and a sunday shirt. Ty stayed home alone until Dad got there.
Athena went with me to chaperone the dance.

Luke is not very social. So, his first dance went as follows:
Pizza and juice consumption.
Walk around uncertain on the dance floor. I then gave him some ideas "You can walk around and talk to any kids you know, try to make new friends or sit in a chair on the side and watch." Athena then added "Or! You could go DANCE!"
She then pulled him by his hands to the dance floor. Athena had been a dancing queen the whole time Luke had been eating. She danced all over that dance floor! And she's got the moves! (I didn't get pictures or photos because I had left my cell phone with Ty so he could call Ster in case of an emergency).

Luke discovered that the funnest thing for him at the dance was to dance with his sister. Luke has never been comfortable dancing. But Athena takes his hands and moves him as she moves herself. Luke is great big brother!

Tiberias would have had a blast and been a great dancer had he been in third grade. He's not there yet. Next year...he will love it!

It seemed that Luke felt it was a successful first dance. Athena agrees! lol
