Final Week in SD

Friday evening we had a great time with the Sheldons!
We ate a delicious healthy dinner. Then the kids played together downstairs and the adults played card games upstairs.

When we left at 9pm it had snowed all over our van and the roads. But we had no trouble getting home(the hotel). We are used to driving in the snow here.

Working out:

Saturday it warmed up! We finally get our nice spring temperatures! In the 30s!

Sunday as we were getting ready for church the hotel fire alarm sounded. It was about 10 minutes sooner than we had planned to leave for church. So we headed down to the parking lot and left a little early.
The kids were concerned at the loud fire alarm when it happened. We assured them that there probably was no fire. Someone had likely burned something on their stovetop.

As we drove out of the parkinglot the alarm stopped and the guests made their way back into the hotel. It was likely a stovetop incident.

We enjoyed our last day in our ward with our friends and ward family.
After church we ate lunch at Famous Dave's. The kids were so excited! They love that restaurant!
Lunch was so yummy. Then we relaxed at the hotel.

Monday the boys went back to school. It was such a nice warm day. Sterling took the van and worked at the house; building screens to put in the windows. So Athena and I took  a walk down to the closest shopping center. We had fun looking at the Dakota Party store. Then we went to Ross where I bought Athena a new church dress since I forgot to pack one for this trip.

Athena is a shopper! She loves to go to stores and has a hard time not being in charge of what we spend money on. She spends the whole time in store picking things up or pointing to them and saying "Let's buy this!" Then she gives an explanation of why we need that item or who we would buy it for. She does not convince me though. And the last items she tries to buy are candy as we leave a store. She often leaves the store disheartened and head hanging low. Poor girl.

Being at the party store I told her "We are not buying decorations or prizes for the party tonight! We have everything we need. So don't ask to buy things for the party!" But, that didn't stop her. It was annoying.

Monday evening we ate a complimentary dinner from the hotel. At 6:30pm we took our stuff to the pool and started letting friends in. Luke invited the Sheldons and Logan Stone. Tiberias invited Desyrae and Parker. Athena invited the Hansens.
The kids had a great pool party! SO much fun. We had toys at the pool and had snacks and water.
Sterling was in the pool with the kids. Druceal and I didn't dress to swim. We sat and chatted.

Sterling got poked in the eye by a child...even though his eye was closed it caused damage. The next day his eye was still very red and he was hurting. He had to go to the med clinic.
He gets his eyes hurt too often by swimming with kids. Last couple of times by Athena and now...I don't know who.

At the end of the party our friends had a hard time saying goodbye. Lillian and Druceal were very sad to say goodbye. They each gave me two hugs before leaving.
Desyrae and Parker were very sad too.  We love our friends.

This morning Ster and I took the boys to school, went to Walmart then dropped Athena off at Leona's house. Sterling and I were able to go back to the hotel for some much needed kid free time.

Sterling was finally able to relax and be happy. The stress will come back though...we have not settled the roof and sale issues.

BUT we are making some movement. Our realtor sent a roofer to look at our roof. He could not get on the roof because there is only one side safe to get on by and that side was icy! Not safe. He assessed the roof without being on it though. He said there is some shingle damage. And that to redo the whole roof would be 5-7 thousand dollars. So if our insurance wont cover it we will ask the buyer to pay for half of the bill.

We have a meeting Wednesday morning for the sale of the house...only...we don't know for sure yet if we are selling the house. It will be an interesting day. Hopefully it will be a productive day where things get sorted out and sure.

The weather is so beautiful! Today we are in the late 40s!!! However, a snow storm is expected tonight. To last until Thursday. It is expected to be so bad that our hotel is going to be full and people might be snowed in. It is expected that school will be cancelled.
I hope it isn't as bad as expected. And that our flight wont get delayed from Thursday evening.

This afternoon Ster dropped Athena and I off at Jenn's house. She with her three youngest kids took us to the downtown library. We played there for an hour then went to Armadillo's for ice cream. Athena got a small twist cone. Then she helped me eat a mint brownie sundae. Mmmmm.

Jenn is planning to take me and my kids to the airport Thursday. She wants to say goodbye as late as possible. So, if weather and roads permit we will be taking our kids to BK to play and eat before going to the airport.

We are so blessed! Sunday Tiberias was sitting around playing the tablet when he said in a happy voice "I love my life." Ty doens't play the tablet often. It's Athena and Luke who fight over having the most time playing the games. Tiberias reads and draws and plays healthier games with his imagination. The point is...he does have a happy and wonderful life. I am so thankful he realizes and appreciates it.

I am so thankful we can give our children such a wonderful life. And that Sterling and I are as happy as them in our marriage and parenting.
